Es wurde bereits vor mehr als 150 Jahren von den beiden Forschern Christian Friedrich Sch\u00f6nbein und Sir William Grove vorgestellt.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span lang=\"de\">Es beruht auf einer einfachen chemischen Reaktion:<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><strong><span lang=\"de\">Wasserstoff + Sauerstoff <\/span><\/strong><strong><span lang=\"de\">\u2192<\/span><\/strong><strong><span lang=\"de\">\u00a0Strom + Wasser + W\u00e4rme<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span lang=\"de\">2 H<sub>2 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/sub>+ \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0O<sub>2 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<\/sub><\/span><span lang=\"de\">\u2192<\/span><span lang=\"de\"> \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a02 H<sub>2<\/sub>O<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-2\"><div>\n<p><span lang=\"de\">In der Brennstoffzelle findet eine Redoxreaktion statt, durch die Strom und W\u00e4rme erzeugt werden. Das Wasserstoffmolek\u00fcl zerf\u00e4llt an der Anode beim Kontakt mit einem Katalysator und setzt die Elektronen frei, die der Stromerzeugung dienen. Das ist die <span style=\"color: #2478bd;\"><strong>Oxidation<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p><strong>2 H<sub>2\u00a0<\/sub>\u00a0\u2192<\/strong><strong>\u00a0 4 H<sup>+<\/sup>\u00a0+ 4 e<sup>\u2013<\/sup><\/strong><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><span lang=\"de\">An der Kathode wiederum reagiert der Sauerstoff beim Kontakt mit den zuvor freigesetzten Elektronen. Das ist die <span style=\"color: #2478bd;\"><strong>Reduktion.<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><strong><span lang=\"de\">O<sub>2<\/sub>\u00a0+ 4 e<sup>\u2013\u00a0<\/sup>\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><strong><span lang=\"de\">\u2192<\/span><\/strong><strong><span lang=\"de\"> \u00a02 O<sup>-2<\/sup><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span lang=\"de\">Schlie\u00dflich reagieren die Wasserstoff-Protonen mit den Sauerstoff-Ionen an des\u00a0<span style=\"color: #2478bd;\"><strong>Kathode<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><span Brennstoffzelle wurde Ende des 19.\u00a0Jahrhunderts gebaut. Sie schaffte eine Leistung von 1,5\u00a0kW. In den 30er-Jahren des 20.\u00a0Jahrhunderts lebte das Interesse an Brennstoffzellen aufgrund der Arbeiten von Francis T. Bacon erneut auf. Bacon benutzte n\u00e4mlich einen alkalischen Elektrolyten anstelle von S\u00e4ure.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Die daraus resultierenden Verbesserungen, n\u00e4mlich ein h\u00f6herer Wirkungsgrad und eine l\u00e4ngere Lebensdauer, machten Brennstoffzellen f\u00fcr die Raumfahrt tauglich. Aber die breite Industrie zeigte sich aufgrund der hohen Kosten unbeeindruckt und die Brennstoffzellen-Technologie blieb auf Nischenm\u00e4rkte beschr\u00e4nkt.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Die Forschung wurde erst in den 1990er-Jahren wieder aufgenommen, als die Automobilbranche sich angesichts der sich abzeichnenden Umweltfragen f\u00fcr die Technologie begeisterte.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Von da an wurden verschiedene Arten von Elektrolyten getestet und f\u00fcr verschiedene Prototypen eingesetzt. Katalysatoren, die seltene Erdmetalle enthalten, werden nicht mehr gebraucht. Die Anlaufzeiten sind dagegen lang und die hohen Betriebstemperaturen erfordern eine sehr gute Isolierung und entsprechend hitzeunempfindliche Systemkomponenten.
